Season Update

Good Morning Ball Hockey Families,

Further to our previous communication we wanted to provide another update from us to you.

Heather and I both appreciate you sticking with us through this tough time, as you can imagine this isn't what we had planned or hoped for. This pandemic situation continues to evolve providing us challenges and barriers from providing a safe environment for youth ball hockey.

As per our previous email, we have laid out a plan and options for families when considering their options moving forward. The vast majority of families recognize that this is a NON PROFIT organization with 100% of the collected money being spent towards the organization and have embraced our plan and chosen to work with us. However, at this time we feel we must address the situation further as we have continued to receive nasty emails and communications accusing us of stealing , withholding money , profiting , taking advantage of families etc. This couldn't be further from the truth and at this point we are at a loss for what further we can offer. We have received threats of small claims court cases as well as taking it to social media in an attempt to portray us personally as thieves. Furthermore, we have been given examples of what other organizations have done without any consideration for how individual organizations operate and are being challenged on our decision.

Being two VOLUNTEERS who have successfully operated this organization for the past 11 years it is very disappointing and disheartening that it has come to this. Detailed below is how a registration fee is used.

With a registration fee the list of items that the fee goes towards are as follows:Yearly InsuranceWebsiteJerseysBank FeesPlayer / Goalie Equipment , balls , safety trainers bag,Referees EquipmentRegistration supplies and flyersArena RentalDuck race ticketPicturesYear End SouvenirsYear end BBQUnfortunately, many of these items such as insurance, website, jerseys, registration supplies etc. were already purchased, and are non refundable thus not allowing us to provide a full and complete refund.

In our 11 years (approx 1000 players) running we have :
VOLUNTEERED our time for pre start up planning and ordering of jerseys and supplies, set up and ran registration dates , had a team draft and season scheduling , including at the arena for every night 3-4 hours during the season.

We give students opportunity for community hours and letter of recommendation

Donated to the 104.1 the dock food drive

Donated equipment for players in the league

Donated to Lexi’s Legs Fundraiser

Donated to Coldwater Youth Group

Helped troubled families who couldn’t afford registration

So with all that being said, the idea of holding back jerseys was to keep our same registration as much as possible for the upcoming season. Wanting everyone to return healthy and happy and be able to continue offering an affordable experience for future years.

I hope this clears a few things up and we can continue to have your support.

To leave this on a positive note, Heather and I would personally like to thank the families who sent positive emails! It makes us continue to do what we do for everyone .

Thanks Brian

We wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on what 2021 Coldwater Ball Hockey will look like.

As you are aware, this past year has been an unprecedented year for many of us and a challenge for everyone trying to navigate these times.

Due to the many restrictions in place by Severn Township and the Simcoe County District Health Unit, we are left with no choice but to postpone another ball hockey season. This is for the health and safety of our players, coaches, families, arena staff and extended community.

We are committed to the community and the players who look forward to ball hockey each year. We plan to return in 2022 stronger than ever and everything as close to normal as we once knew it.

We have been accused of profiting from the seasons’ registration and we have been bullied for not refunding fees. If anyone of you know us, then you know what kind of people we are. We have been volunteering our time for this league for 10+ years. A successful season takes months of planning and a great deal of time is committed every week to run. We do this for the kids in our community. Our own kids are too old to play now, but we still do it.

Last year before we were shut down, we were ready to launch our year. This means we had already paid for jersey’s, yearly insurance, website fees, equipment etc.  Which is majority of our registration fee. We do our best to keep our fees low, and the registration fees pay for all the expenses. That means no money left at the end of the year. Therefore, we don’t have enough money to give full refunds.

After further review, currently, families have a few options.

Option#1

Players’ registration will be carried over to 2022. You will not be required to register your child. Even if registration increases next year there will be no extra cost to you.

Option #2

Request a refund of $40. If you decide to return in 2022, you will need to re-register, but your registration fee will be $40 less because you already paid for the jersey etc.  However, it will be your responsibility to re-register on a first come first serve basis.

If your player is too old to play but was registered to play in 2020, they will still be eligible to play the 2022 season.

At this time, you can email us on your decision.

If we do not hear from you then we assume that you are going with Option #1
